This record group consists of informational materials relating to conservation (ca. 1898-1966) transferred from the Michigan Department of Conservation's Education and Information Division. Consists of narrative reminiscences; clippings; photgraphic prints and negatives; identification notes; letters; memoranda; abstracts of articles and statements from published sources accumulated for their historical value. Subjects include: forestry; game; Haven Hill Lodge; markers; mining; newspapers; outdoor writers' meeting; Pointe Mouilee; railroads; recreation; reindeer; Carl Saunders; snowshoes; Albert Stoll; stories by personnel; trapping; Walker Tavern; and water rigs used to bring water from Lake Michigan to Harbor Springs. Includes 236 b&w prints in various sizes and 100 negatives.
